ST DAVID

While some superyachts go with a minimal, monochrome theme, there are others like ST DAVID who glory in showcasing the finest craftsmanship afloat. The repeated theme of circles and skylights draws in light - and draws guests to explore further. The central skylight through the bottom of the Jacuzzi illuminates the ornate gilded staircase - at the bottom you’ll discover a gold-inlaid globe to remind you of your voyages (and it doubles as a drinks bar…) The forward skylight sits above the master suite, surrounded by a painted trompe l’oeil ceiling in sky blue - a colour shared by the fine carpets and damask furnishings of this raised master stateroom. Steps lead down to a very large private saloon, office and en suite. The honey-coloured marble tub sits on top of a tiled compass rose, another motif that is repeated across ST DAVID. Also on the main deck, the saloon is redolent with warmth from polished wood panelling; pale cream carpeting uses flower motifs to delineate the dining and lounging areas. Right aft within curved glass doors, the statement bar sits beneath a draped ceiling. These curved doors are found on the deck above, part of the circle surrounding the amazing ‘Tuscan palazzo’ inspired dining room, with a beautiful mosaic floor, with the third skylight offering sunshine or starlight from above. With the doors open, this is a wonderful near-al fresco experience. For maximum fresh air, the large sun deck is hard to beat. Lilac sun beds add another splash of colour as they surround the Jacuzzi and skylights; when the sun pads are removed, the whole deck can turn into a nightclub. Or for a more relaxed evening, a clever screen between the Jacuzzi and bar can show a film that both sides can view…
